About Martin Souto-Diaz

Martín Souto Díaz practices law in the areas of criminal defense, civil rights litigation, and general civil matters. He has represented clients in a broad range of criminal cases before Pennsylvania’s Magistrate District Courts and the Court of Common Pleas, and is admitted to practice before all Pennsylvania State Courts, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He has also been admitted pro hac vice to appear before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the New York Supreme Court. A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras, with degrees in Foreign Languages and European History, he earned his J.D. from Penn State Law on scholarship, where he coached and competed on Moot Court teams, served on the Moot Court Board, worked in the Immigration Clinic, and interned for Chief Judge Sánchez of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He previously served as law clerk to the Honorable President Judge Margherita Patti-Worthington and supported the Court on a wide range of criminal matters. He later operated his own practice in Stroudsburg and now serves as conflict counsel for the Monroe County Court of Common Pleas, maintaining a commitment to constitutional advocacy and the adversarial process. Fluent in English and Spanish, he also holds an advanced German language certificate from the Universität Wien. He is a member of the Monroe County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Publication Committee of the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
