About Jason A. Pica II
Jason firmly believes that individuals seeking his legal counsel often require more than just a proficient attorney. He offers personalized care to his clients, ensuring he is readily available to them. His practice spans all areas of divorce and family law, including divorce, paternity cases, child support, alimony, division of assets, enforcement actions, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, protective orders, appeals against Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) decisions, adoptions, and minor guardianships. Jason adopts a pragmatic and outcome-focused approach to divorce and family law, underpinned by straightforward and honest communication. He also acts as a mediator, guiding parties towards a negotiated agreement through a structured resolution process.
Understanding the personal significance of each case, Jason inquires about what is most important to his clients, striving to achieve their objectives while minimizing emotional and financial stress. Drawing on his personal experience of witnessing three divorces during his childhood, he values empowering clients to define their own divorce journey. In graduate school, Jason was the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Praxis, an academic journal managed by students, and worked as a counselor for at-risk youth in Chicago. His background in providing psychotherapy to underserved youth informs his special attention to cases that intersect with mental health issues. His graduate research, focusing on these topics, has been recognized at national academic conferences and published in leading journals.
While in law school, Jason gained invaluable experience as a judicial extern in the Circuit Court of Cook County’s Domestic Relations Division and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in the Child Protection Division, where he championed the welfare of children in foster care.
