With a legal career spanning over 40 years in South Carolina, John O. McDougall serves as a founding partner at our esteemed law firm. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1971, subsequently gaining admission to the South Carolina Bar in the same year. In addition to his role at McDougall, Self, Currence & McLeod, LLP, McDougall is an active member of prominent legal associations, including the American Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the South Carolina Association for Justice. John O. McDougall holds the distinction of being the second lawyer to assume the presidency of both the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association and the South Carolina Bar Association in the history of these organizations. Notably, he is the sole practitioner focusing exclusively in matrimonial law to have held the presidency in both associations. McDougall has been consistently nominated as one of the Best Lawyers in America by Woodward/White, Inc. since 1991.
