About John N. Chigbu

John Chigbu serves as the founder and Managing Partner of Chigbu & Co, LLP, a San Francisco-based law firm specializing in international and domestic corporate taxation. Established in 2006, the firm has grown to become a prominent player in the field of business law. John brings to the table over 18 years of extensive international business and tax expertise.

Before establishing Chigbu & Co, John held the position of Global Vice President of Tax and Treasury at Sanmina-SCI Corporation, a multinational electronic manufacturing giant with a $12 billion valuation. Preceding this role, he served as the General Tax Counsel and VP for Business Objects SA, a $5 billion French software company headquartered in Paris, France.

During his tenure as International Tax Counsel for Chevron Corporation from 1994 to 1999, John played a pivotal role in structuring significant and high-impact deals. Notable among these were projects in Nigeria (the West African pipeline), Kazakhstan (the Lukoil, Chevron, and Mobil joint venture), and the US (the Chevron Environmental Liability Corporation). The latter initiative streamlined Chevron's environmental clean-up operations, resulting in substantial savings in fees and taxes.

Before joining Chevron, John gained valuable experience at the Big Four accounting firm KPMG in New York City and San Francisco, where he held the position of Tax Manager in their Financial Services line of business. John's academic journey includes studies at the London School of Economics, the University of Texas, Louisiana State University Law Center, and New York University School of Law. His educational achievements encompass a combined Bachelors (BA) degree in Economics and Political Science, a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, and a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Taxation. He is licensed to practice law in the States of California and New York.
