About N. Scott Smith

N. Scott Smith hails from Benton Harbor, Michigan, and embarked on a promising educational journey by earning his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Indiana University in 1999, where he graduated with high distinction. Before venturing into law school, Mr. Smith had the privilege of working directly with the Governor of Indiana as a Governor's Fellow. During his time in law school, he was engaged by the Integrated Public Safety Commission to contribute to the development of legislation for a statewide first responder communications system, collaborating closely with the Indiana State Police. Additionally, he served as a research assistant to the then Assistant Dean, Andrew Klein.

In 2004, Mr. Smith achieved his juris doctorate from IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law, graduating cum laude. He officially joined the Indiana bar in 2005. His legal journey was punctuated by numerous scholarships and accolades, including graduating with honors, being the recipient of the John J. Dillon Scholarship, and reaching the Finalist round in Moot Court Championship arguments.

Before establishing his own law firm, Smith Legal LLC, Mr. Smith was a partner at Campbell Kyle Proffitt LLP until 2016. During his tenure at Campbell Kyle Proffitt, Mr. Smith cultivated a diverse litigation practice, with a primary focus on divorce and family law matters, but also extending to areas such as adoption, real estate, business, and personal injury cases.

Presently, Mr. Smith focuses on dissolution, post-dissolution, and paternity matters. He has earned recognition as a registered domestic relations and civil mediator, where he conducts an average of 2-3 mediations per week, making significant contributions to the field.
