Summa Cum Laude graduate of North Carolina Central University, Attorney Sherrod excelled both academically and athletically as a scholar-athlete on the women's basketball team. Prior to her time at North Carolina Central University, she was a member of the women's basketball team at Purdue University, contributing to the 1999 National Championship Team. Recognizing her achievements, she was inducted into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the 2022 Silver Anniversary Team.

Attending DePaul University College of Law after her undergraduate studies, Attorney Sherrod actively participated in the Black Law Student's Association and the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition. Admitted to the Illinois Supreme Court and licensed to practice law in Illinois, she is also admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Furthermore, she serves as a licensed Illinois title agent for reputable title agencies, including First American, Citywide Title, and Stewart Title.
