About Hallie Von Rock
After completing high school in Washington, I relocated to the Bay Area. I gained admission to UC Berkeley through a program allowing me to defer enrollment for two years, during which I could establish California residency and attend community college. This was crucial as I was self-financing my college education. In 1996, I took on the role of office manager at the law firm of Randall Aiman-Smith and Reed Marcy while pursuing night classes.
My introduction to the legal realm occurred shortly after joining the firm, just as I was preparing to transfer to UC Berkeley. The Board of Regents challenged my residency status, asserting that California residency necessitated a student to be present for "two calendar years." Randall and Reed championed my case with the same enthusiasm they displayed for their clients. This experience exposed me to the challenges of confronting a formidable organization and the invaluable support of dedicated attorneys.
My professional background encompasses extensive involvement in civil litigation and class action suits. I have handled various aspects, including conducting discovery and depositions, performing damages analysis, preparing certification motions, drafting appellate documents, and overseeing claims administration. Notable cases include multiple class actions against retailers such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Hugo Boss, Armani Exchange, Uniqlo, Dollar Tree, and Ross. Recently, I served as trial counsel in a defamation claim against Bank of America, representing a former employee who alleged blacklisting by the bank with subsequent employers. The jury found Bank of America liable, including awarding punitive damages.
