The law firm of Steven H. Wilhelm, A.P.C. traces its roots back to approximately 1980. Prior to the establishment of this firm, its principal, Steven H. Wilhelm, served as a law clerk to the Honorable Howard B. Turrentine, a Judge in the U.S. District Court for the Southern California District in San Diego from 1974 to 1975. Following this, Mr. Wilhelm became the eleventh attorney in a rapidly expanding law firm reminiscent of Wall Street-style practices, initially known as Sullivan, Jones & Archer. Over time, this firm splintered into approximately ten different law firms in San Diego, all with a primary focus on complex securities fraud litigation and antitrust litigation. Throughout its existence, the firm has consistently concentrated on business transactional work and business litigation across a wide range of business domains, occasionally taking on cases in other areas of civil litigation.

Today, the firm's main areas of focus, namely business transactional/corporate work and complex business litigation, are primarily overseen by the firm's principal, Mr. Wilhelm, in collaboration with an of counsel relationship with Bradley Nemeth and two joint-venture relationships, one of which involves Mr. James Clevenger. Mr. Nemeth holds certification in tax, probate, and estate planning, while Mr. Clevenger, though retired from active practice, continues to provide consultation to Mr. Wilhelm in the realms of copyright, trademark, trade name law, and the licensing of intellectual property. Additionally, the firm occasionally enters into joint ventures with outside firms, particularly when pursuing complex transactional and litigation matters.
