Stephen M. Komie, founder of Komie and Associates, has over 40 years of experience representing clients in state, federal, and international courts. Known for high-profile cases, Mr. Komie has achieved numerous victories in criminal and civil trials. He has argued five cases before the Illinois Supreme Court, including the 2017 People v. Ringland decision that halted illegal investigative practices by state prosecutors.
Beyond the courtroom, Mr. Komie has been recognized for his contributions to the legal profession, serving as an ambassador at the Magna Carta’s 800th anniversary and a delegate to The Hague Convention on International Child Abduction. A longtime leader in the Illinois State Bar Association, he authored the Illinois Attorney’s Bill of Rights and continues to champion civil liberties through organizations such as the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws.
