Austin, TX Criminal Defense AttorneyLance Kennedy is a former federal and state prosecutor now focusing on criminal defense in Central Texas. A proud seventh-generation Texan, Lance grew up in Dallas after being born in East Texas. He holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin, a law degree from Southern Methodist University, and a master's degree from Harvard University. Lance began his legal career in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Judge Advocate and soon entered the field of criminal law. Over nearly five years, he worked as both an Assistant Attorney General and Assistant District Attorney in Texas, handling a wide range of felony, misdemeanor, and civil cases. His passion for justice led him to a role as a Special Assistant United States Attorney (SAUSA) in 2019, where he continued prosecuting state and federal offenses. Throughout his time as a state prosecutor, Lance personally tried around fifty cases before judges and juries. In 2021, the Department of Justice appointed Lance as a full-time federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office. There, he handled a variety of federal crimes, including cases involving cartel members, tax evaders, and sex offenders. Lance successfully tried seven federal cases, each leading to a conviction. Having been involved in thousands of criminal cases throughout his career, Lance is committed to helping his clients navigate the complex criminal justice system and regain control of their lives.
