About Shahzeen A. Karim
Shahzeen Karim is an accomplished litigator known for her client advocacy and commanding presence in the courtroom. With extensive experience in immigration law and a fervent commitment to impactful legal practice, Shahzeen applies a dynamic approach across her varied practice areas. Starting her career in Chicago, Shahzeen quickly excelled in criminal law, handling a broad range of misdemeanor and felony cases in Cook County.
Upon moving to Texas, she focused on family-based immigration, skillfully assisting clients with VAWA benefits, U Visas, hardship waivers, adjustment of status, and naturalization processes. She then transitioned to business immigration, where she represented numerous employers in obtaining work authorizations and employment visas for their employees through PERM Labor Certification applications, immigrant petitions, and permanent residence applications both domestically and at U.S. Consulates abroad.
Shahzeen's resolve and experience led to a job offer from the Department of Homeland Security in San Francisco, which she declined to continue her work with individuals needing crucial legal support. She represented asylum seekers in court proceedings at one of San Francisco’s largest removal defense firms, where she partnered with her colleague, Ryan. Now back in Dallas, Shahzeen continues her practice with her partner in California. Licensed in Illinois and a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2016, Shahzeen holds a Juris Doctorate from DePaul University and graduated with honors in Criminal Justice and Philosophy from the University of Illinois-Chicago.
Noted for her strategic acumen and ability to navigate complex legal landscapes, Shahzeen ensures tailored solutions and diligent protection of her clients’ rights, whether they are individuals or businesses, across various forums including the USCIS, Immigration Court, and U.S. Department of State offices worldwide.
