Rockford, IL General Litigation AttorneyAttorney Robert (Bob) Canfield is a Rockford, IL native and Guilford High School alumnus, class of 1965. Following high school, he joined the Army in February of 1968, attended Army flight school, and excelled, graduating 2nd in his class. He served a year in Vietnam as a CH-47 Chinook helicopter pilot for the 101st Airborne Division and later taught as an Instrument Flight Instructor at Fort Rucker, Alabama. After his military service, he pursued higher education at the University of Minnesota, earning a BA in psychology in 1976 and a Law degree in 1978. He passed both the Illinois and Minnesota bar exams that fall and chose to establish his legal practice in his hometown of Rockford. Bob began his legal career at an insurance defense firm but soon founded his own practice, which has evolved into the firm Canfield, McKenna & Lawson. His practice areas include Family Law, Real Estate Law, Probate Law, Wills and Trusts, and Business/Corporation Law. He also serves as a Court Certified Mediator for the Family Court. Beyond his legal pursuits, Bob has continued to serve in the military, joining the Minnesota National Guard and later the Wisconsin National Guard, flying helicopters until he retired after nearly 30 years of service. He retired with over 4000 flight hours and an Army Master Aviator title. Notably, during his military career, he had the honor of flying notable figures such as Bob Hope, H.
