About Brendan Michael O'Brien
With over a decade defending more than 10,000 criminal defendants in Maryland, Mr. O’Brien brings extensive courtroom experience to each client he represents. His relentless pursuit of favorable outcomes has enabled him to successfully defend hundreds of clients in criminal trials across both District and Circuit courts statewide. Whether navigating complex legal challenges or managing high-stakes disputes, Mr. O’Brien ensures top-tier representation for all his clients.
Mr. O’Brien's legal education was completed at the University of Baltimore School of Law, where he graduated with honors. His passion for criminal law was evident early on as he interned for the Clerk of the Appellate Court of Maryland and clerked for Professor Byron L. Warnken, a renowned criminal law scholar. His law school years were marked by a deep engagement with criminal appeals and post-conviction cases, providing him with a nuanced understanding of legal analysis and the common pitfalls of criminal trial practice. Additionally, he argued a criminal appeal before the Appellate Court of Maryland as part of the University of Baltimore’s Appellate Practice Clinic.
Upon being admitted to the bar in 2010, Mr. O’Brien joined the Office of the Public Defender of Maryland. Over nearly a decade, he vigorously represented an average of 20 clients weekly, demonstrating an exceptional standard of professionalism that resulted in just one client complaint to the Attorney Grievance Commission throughout his tenure. His ability to manage multiple trials in a single day earned him a reputation as a seasoned litigator. His legal acumen is further recognized through his admission to practice in the Supreme Court of the United States and his selection to the Peer Review Committee for the Attorney Grievance Commission.
