About Maria Gabriela Guraiib

I was born and raised in Tucuman, Argentina, and completed my legal education at the National University of Tucuman, earning a juris doctor degree. After practicing law in Argentina, I immigrated to the United States and obtained a license to practice in California. My legal career in the U.S. began as a Deputy Public Defender in Tulare County, where I applied my prior law clerk experience to handle cases ranging from misdemeanors and felonies to juvenile defense.

Upon relocating to San Mateo County in 2014, I established my practice, tackling a diverse array of cases, including low-level misdemeanors, general felonies, violent crimes, gang cases, domestic violence, theft crimes, drug cases, attempted murders, and currently, a murder case. I've also handled expungements, motions to withdraw pleas, and pleas vacate, demonstrating a commitment to addressing the full spectrum of legal issues. Additionally, I've advocated for clients dealing with mental health challenges in specialty courts, working towards obtaining necessary treatment to prevent future criminal behavior.

My extensive trial experience, coupled with a strong background in research and writing, has proven instrumental in achieving success during pretrial stages. Whether by swiftly truncating prosecution in the early phases or by exposing the insufficiency of evidence supporting the charges, I bring a comprehensive skill set to the legal arena. Fluent in Spanish, I am well-versed in the distinctions between the legal systems of the United States and South America, providing valuable insights and guidance to clients navigating the complexities of the U.S. legal landscape. I am dedicated to executing the most effective defense strategy for my clients, taking into account the specific circumstances of each case.
