Springfield, Missouri Criminal Defense AttorneyStuart P. Huffman earned his Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in psychology from Central Missouri State University in 1997. Following this, he obtained his J.D. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2000. During law school, Huffman served as a law clerk for both the Wyandotte County Circuit Court and the Jackson County Associate Court, directly assisting judges with legal research and drafting legal documents. After passing the bar exam in 2000, Huffman pursued his passion for trying cases by joining the Missouri State Public Defender's office in 2001 in Springfield, Missouri. Here, he handled a wide array of misdemeanor and felony cases, including representing clients in court, filing motions, and conducting client conferences, ultimately becoming the primary attorney for numerous felony cases. In 2002, Huffman transitioned to the law firm of Whiteaker & Wilson P.C. in Springfield, where he initially managed criminal cases along with civil litigation and worker's compensation cases. He later became a partner in the firm in 2008, and alongside Richard Davis, primarily focused on criminal defense, representing clients in federal, state, and municipal courts. Specializing exclusively in criminal cases, Huffman is an active member of esteemed legal associations such as the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) and the Missouri Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (MACDL).
