T.O. Sanders possesses a unique blend of academic prowess, combining an engineering degree from Clemson University (1989) and a law degree from the University of South Carolina (1992). This distinguished educational background places him among a select group of attorneys in South Carolina with a solid foundation in engineering. His professional journey began as a law clerk for the Honorable Charles W. Whetstone, Jr. in South Carolina’s First Circuit (1994-95), followed by serving as an assistant solicitor for Charleston County’s Ninth Judicial Circuit (1995-98). These early roles granted him invaluable trial experience and insight into legal proceedings.

Beyond his legal career, T.O. Sanders dedicated years to the US Army Reserve and the SC Army National Guard (1992-2008), undertaking diverse roles including combat engineer, public affairs officer, and staff judge advocate. Recognized with an AV® Preeminent™ rating by Martindale-Hubble, T.O. Sanders has successfully navigated an extensive array of civil and criminal cases across various local, state, and federal courts.
